Coffee before a Buxton matinee

If you're in Buxton for an afternoon show, come to RASA beforehand. Our weekend closing time is 3pm, which may be before your matinee finishes.

We're at 14 Terrace Road, Buxton SK17 6DU. We open at 8am every day and close at 4pm Monday to Friday, or 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays. There's specialty coffee, matcha and fresh bakes, with takeaway available. Dogs are welcome inside. Both café addresses are on the Locations page.

Pavilion Gardens gives you somewhere to go afterwards. It has 23 acres of gardens, lakes and a promenade, so you can spend as much of the morning outdoors as you feel like. We'd leave the walk until after coffee if you're sitting in, or collect drinks to take with you.

For an indoor visit, there is the Gallery in the Gardens, with work by artists and craftspeople from the High Peak Artists group. Check its opening times before setting off. You can fit the garden walk around a look at the artwork, then leave time for lunch before the show.

The Pavilion complex also has a Winter Conservatory with a botanical garden and fishpond. If you've brought a dog, the conservatory won't be an indoor alternative to your walk: Visit Buxton says only registered guide dogs are welcome in the Pavilion building. Dogs can join you in the outdoor gardens on a lead.

The Buxton Opera House programme has the performance listings. Read the venue on your ticket as well as the start time. The programme covers more than one performance space, so use the details for your particular show when arranging where to meet.
